A New Year, A New Design

If you come by here often, you may have noticed some changes in the appearance of Michigan Quilts!   I’m doing some house cleaning and some major redecorating to usher in the new year, so over the next few days you might notice even more changes.  I’m trying to crisp-up the look, get rid of clutter, and make this baby come alive.  Please let me know what you do and don’t like.

For example:  I liked having quilt books listed on the right side of the page, but in the fourth quarter of 2008, not a single book was purchased from those links.  So, I asked myself, “Why are you using that space for ads when you could put your OWN things there?”

As a result, I am working on some tutorials to add to Michigan Quilts!   The links to the tutorials will be on the right side in place of the books.

I like the cute backgrounds from The Cutest Blog on the Block; BUT I don’t want something that is going to be visually distracting to my readers.  If you have a hard time visually with Michigan Quilts!  please let me know.

I would like to know more about what is happening within the State of Michigan quilt-wise.  If you have something coming up in the state, or if you are a Michigan quilter, please let me know by sending me an email.  My email address is caronmosey at gmail dot com.  I’d love to hear about quilt shops, shows, events (historical and quilt related).  If you are a quilt shop owner in Michigan, please let me know where you are and how my readers can find you.  Same thing if you have a favorite quilt shop you visit.  Let us know where it is!

Stay tuned for some changes.  I’m hoping they are all good!

  1. I like this look better than the last one that had the brown lace like decorations on it. Even though I never purchased any books it was interesting to see them — I am trying very hard not to buy books! I have so many and I have to use some of them before I get anymore. Maybe others were doing the same that you didn’t have any sell the last quarter? Also that is when the economy was worse. Tutorials are always interesting in my opinion.Karenhttp://karensquilting.com/blog/

  2. Thanks Karen. As I said in my post, I want something that is attractive, yet not cluttery. I could tweak my blog all day, every day, though, so there has to be a stopping point somewhere. LOLAs always, I really appreciate your comments, Karen!!!

  3. Change is good, if one can muster up the energy… Sounds like you are well on your way to all kinds of changes, with blog and sewing room! Good for you! 😎I am thinking to change my bedroom into my sewing room, and my sewing room into my bedroom. This would give me a smaller bedroom, but bigger sewing room. A good switch I think… Some patching and painting will be in order. Will be the first batch of painting in this house…Happy planning and stitchings! 😎

  4. Caron,I really like the light airy look of the new blog background. The header is nice looking also. Sometimes it’s hard to decide what to have on a blog. So many things look interesting, but I can’t have them all. I like the sounds of your tutorials, good luck doing them.
