Sometimes the best plans go awry

My plans yesterday were to finish marking “Paper Lanterns” and put it on the frame. It is now marked, but not on the frame. I thought I had enough batting, but it turns out I am about a foot short in length. So today I will travel to JoAnn’s and get more. HEAVY SIGH. I think I’ll try that new bamboo batting. If you have used it, please comment below. It’s new to me!

So instead of starting to quilt, I did a cleaning of my sewing area. Lots of threads and little bits of fabric and such on the floor, so I grabbed my basement vaccuum. The belt was broken. Another HEAVY SIGH.

I opted to sew this little block (F12 Starburst) and then go upstairs and hand quilt.

Some days are just like that, aren’t they?

  1. I haven’t used the bamboo quilt bat, but it sounds like a ‘green’ thing to do. Way to go! I had a ‘cleaning’ day in my ‘crap’ room last week and found a few of my husband’s shirts I had hidden there because they required ironing. He saw them to yesterday (sigh) I ironed them Hopefully by the time they hit the dirty clothes pile he will forget them and I can hide them again. Clutter does have its uses. 🙂 DawnA Subversive Stitcher

  2. I have not used it yet, but one of the gals who quilts on the long arm at the LQS told me it needs to be floated on a frame and not loaded on the batting rail, because it stretches. I hope that helps.

  3. You did such a great job on the block.I’ve been piecing in my living room and I have threads and bits of fabric all over the place. It even happens when I’m -trying- to be neat. It’s good to know that I have company. 🙂Best regards,Darilyn

  4. That’s a great block! 😎Bummer you had one of “those” days… We all have them… yesterday was my son’s turn… he got rear-ended, locked keys in his truck, and then broke his key in the ignition… sheesh!!!I hope your last 2 days have been better for you! 😎I love Saturdays too… but then, most days are like Saturday to me… unemployed/retired… 😎I look forward to seeing your lantern quilt after quilting, and your circles quilt quilting is looking awesome! Good for you! 😎Happy stitchings!
