No Sewing, But I walked!

It’s been awhile since I posted something quilty. Probably because I haven’t had a chance to sew in several weeks – well, I probably COULD have sewn, but I’ve been so bummed at Millie that I haven’t wanted to go downstairs to play with her. You see, Millie messed up the back of a quilt I worked a long time on. She needs a good spanking – or at least, a tweaking of her tension. Maybe Saturday…

But I do feel good about myself. I’ve been on the treadmill every day for the last four days. That’s a GOOD thing! I’ve set a goal for myself – I want to walk in the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run on May 31. Yes, I know it says R U N but this old broad will not be running. I never could run very well, and always felt it might kill me if I did. I will be walking either a 5K or 10K, depending on how my training goes.

This is a big thing for me. I have never been athletic, and I know I won’t win the walking part of the run, but I at least want to say that I did it. So on the treadmill, I’m gradually increasing my distance each day. We’ll see. If you want to walk with me, let me know and then go register at http://www.dexterannarborrun.com/ and sign up to be on “Team Braylon” to help raise money for the “Braylon Gift of Hope Fund” at the Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan. Braylon was a sweet little boy just one year old whose life was cut short due to a serious heart problem. While we are there we can attend the “Taste of Ann Arbor!”

  1. Poor Millie, don’t beat her! We all have bad days. Maybe she was having some sort of menopause moment or something. I’m sure she’ll be fine tomorrow. Kudos on the walking! I absolutely HATE exercising but finally made myself start using a recumbent bike 2 years ago. It really does become a good habit after a few months. Just wait until the day that you can’t exercise and you actually MISS it! You will think you are going crazy.

  2. Good job on the walking… It is a good start. I always find that the hardest thing about exercising is actually starting. I feel great afterwards… it is just the getting started part that is painful.< HREF="http://www.scrapmyblog.com" REL="nofollow">Cute Backgrounds<>

  3. Good for you and the walking. I have been trying to walk my dog at least 1-2 miles every night to get myself back in shape. I always feel so much better after doing it, it is just getting out there and doing it that is toughest.
