Do You Like to Applique?

Floral Star of Bethlehem by Caron MoseyOne of my favorite things to do is applique by hand. I know lots of people machine applique these days, but for me stitching by hand is beautiful and relaxing. It’s a technique I have been doing for years, and (hopefully) getting better at it.
I discovered The Applique Society today.

From their website:
The Appliqué Society – TAS – is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization devoted entirely to the art of appliqué. It consists of a very diverse group of appliqué artists, teachers, designers, authors, collectors and enthusiasts interested in joining with others worldwide to advance and promote appliqué.Our Mission Statement is “To Promote, To Teach, and To Encourage the Feathered Crown by Caron MoseyLove of All Types of Appliqué in Quilting”. We work to educate and promote public interest in the world of appliqué. The Appliqué Society and its members wish to ensure that the art of appliqué will continue through the generations.

Pour yourself a cup of something yummy, and take a trip over to their website and look around. Click on lots of links – there are some beautiful things to look at!

  1. I am a charter member of TAS. I love it. Did you know that there is an applique event every two years? There is no chapter close enough to me to join so I am a member of the online chapter. My post on January 1 was inspired by TAS.
