30 Things: Number 6

Day 6: What is the hardest thing you have ever experienced?

Most definitely, that would be losing my  mom in April of 2007.  Nothing can quite prepare you for the loss of a parent.  In some ways it was a relief, knowing that she was not longer suffering as she had done for much of her life, but mostly it was difficult because she was no longer around to talk to and be a part of my life.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Mom sewed most of my clothes  growing up, and she was very good at it.  When I made granddaughter Samantha’s baptismal gown out of my wedding dress, I found myself in tears many times calling out to mom with questions, sadly knowing that she wasn’t there to guide me in a very important project.

Alas, mom would have been so thrilled to know she had a Great Granddaughter… and almost four years later, another Great Grandson, Fischer.
